Dr. Het is an orthopedic surgeon specialized in knee and shoulder surgery, with advanced clinical training in high-volume surgical environments. He has special interest in knee preservation surgeries (i.e. to cure knee problem without total replacement), bow leg or knock knee corrections, sports injuries, shoulder surgery for multiple times shoulder dislocations, treatment of frozen shoulder. He perform full spectrum of knee operations – from key-hole surgery (arthroscopy) to alignment correction (HTO), to capping (partial replacement) to knee replacement (TKR). He choose what is most suitable for the patient.

After completing his post-graduation from Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, he performed many trauma surgeries during his junior and senior residency, laying a strong foundation in operative orthopedics.

He further honed his expertise through a clinical research fellowship under renowned surgeons Dr. J. Maheshwari and Dr. Vikram Mhaskar, where he gained experience in over 1,200 advanced knee and shoulder procedures. These included total, uni-condylar, and patellofemoral knee arthroplasties(replacements) ; multi-ligament reconstructions; meniscus and cartilage preservation techniques (OATS, osteochondral fixation); deformity correction (High tibial osteotomies, Distal femoral osteotomies); and complex shoulder procedures such as arthroplasty (reverse, anatomical, hemi), arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs, and shoulder surgeries for instability due to bony or soft tissue pathology.

He has served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedics at Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences (Near shirdi) , where he has independently performed over 500 surgeries, including complex reconstructions and revisions of knee and shoulder procedures such as Superior Capsular Reconstruction for massive cuff tears, Latarjet, multi-ligament knee reconstructions, and combined procedures like High tibial osteotomy with root repair for osteoarthritis.

His pursuit of surgical excellence led him to Seoul, South Korea, where he was trained under Prof. Sang Jin Shin — a global leader in shoulder surgery. This experience deepened his proficiency in cutting-edge techniques, including patch augmentation, the use of allografts/xenografts in cuff repair, arthroscopic bone block procedures, and technology-integrated shoulder arthroplasty (3D planning, navigation-assisted Reverse shoulder replacement, patient-specific instrumentation).

Dr. Het Patel is not only a skilled and compassionate orthopedic surgeon but also an active contributor to academic medicine. His commitment to advancing orthopedic care is reflected in his numerous publications in both national and international peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Patel regularly presents at national conferences and has been invited to serve as faculty at Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs, where he shares his expertise with fellow professionals.

His research interests span a broad spectrum of orthopedic sub-specialties, including sports injuries, pediatric orthopedics, and innovative surgical techniques. Some of his notable publications include:

  • "Anatomical and cost-effective technique of fixation of osteochondral defect of femur with absorbable sutures" – A groundbreaking study on minimally invasive and affordable fixation techniques. (Journal of Arthroscopic Surgery and Sports Medicine, 2025)
  • "How Stable Do Multiligament Knee Reconstructions Become?" – A collaborative study evaluating post-surgical knee stability and patient-reported outcomes. (Indian Journal of Orthopaedics, 2024)
  • "Tenodesis Anchors: A Convenient Technique for Collateral Ligament Reconstructions" – Focused on simplifying complex ligament reconstructions. (Arthroscopy Techniques, 2024)
  • "Outcome of Honey and Ghee Dressing as Compared to Regular Dressing Materials" – A unique exploration of traditional dressing methods in modern wound care. (EAS Journal of Orthopaedic and Physiotherapy, 2024)
  • "Outcomes of Conservative versus Operative Management in Pediatric Femur and Tibia Fractures" – Highlighting best practices in pediatric fracture care. (Scholars Journal of Applied Medical Sciences, 2022)

His dedication to rural healthcare is also evident in studies like:

  • "Study of outcomes of suprapatellar approach for tibia intramedullary nailing in rural settings" (IJRO, 2022)
  • "Functional outcomes of fixation of hand fractures with titanium mini plates in the Indian rural population"

From pioneering surgical methods to studying traditional treatments, Dr. Het's work bridges the gap between modern orthopedic science and accessible care. His research continues to influence clinical practice, improve patient outcomes, and inspire upcoming orthopedic professionals.
